We've all heard it said: Kids are the future.
It's an undeniable truth that the future of our communities, locally and globally, relies on the next generation of world-changers. We owe it to themÌýto invest in their wellness, instilling healthy habits and knowledge that has the power to shape their lives and, ultimately, the world.
That's why we've kicked off a pilot program with the to bring the curriculum, provided by the Abbott Fund, to three locations in the U.S. and Mexico.
Students will understand the connection between nutritious food choices and noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as heart disease and diabetes, which are among the greatest health threats of our time. While NCDs are not contagious, it is often the life choices we make that contribute to the development of NCDs later in life.

WithÌýÌýof all children and adolescents in the U.S. not getting enough hydration, poor nutrition being directly linked to risk ofÌýÌýlater in life, onlyÌýÌýteenagers getting enough exercise per day andÌýÌýbeing shown to impact cardiovascular health, blood pressure and risk for type 2 diabetes — health education has never been more critical.
